Practical Life & Skill Development

Well-planned Practical Life activities help toddlers strengthen fine motor skills, balance, coordination, concentration, and hand-eye coordination. These foundational exercises foster a strong sense of order and independence while preparing children for future academic learning.

Language & Cognitive Development

Language development is a key focus of our toddler child care program. Children are introduced to engaging language materials such as books, picture cards, puzzles, and hands-on activities. Our teachers read aloud daily, tell stories, and guide listening exercises that expand vocabulary and encourage early communication skills.

Through exploration and experimentation, toddlers refine their sensory perceptions and improve their ability to focus and complete tasks independently.

Grapevine Daycare with Potty Training Support

For many children, 18 months is an ideal time to begin potty training. At our Grapevine toddler day care, we work closely with parents to identify signs of readiness and gently encourage children through the toilet training process in a positive and supportive way.

Individualized Learning & Progress Tracking

Our experienced  teachers prepare individualized lesson plans, conduct ongoing assessments, and maintain portfolios documenting each child’s progress. This ensures new concepts are introduced at the right time, keeping every child appropriately challenged and engaged.

Typical Day for Toddler

Arrival: Toddlers arrive for the school day between 8:30 AM and 8:45 AM. They start their day by hanging up their coats, putting away their lunches, and greeting their teachers and friends.

Work Cycle: Children have an uninterrupted morning of hands-on activities, and the teachers work with children one-on-one or in small groups.

Types of activities include:

  • Practical Life: Children delight in doing activities from everyday life that are scaled down to toddler size. Examples include pouring, scooping, transferring, flower arranging, and practicing zippers.

  • Fine Motor: We have variety of manipulatives, such as puzzles, shape sorters, and stringing beads.

  • Language: We offer language objects, pictures, songs, books, and poems.

  • Art: The Montessori philosophy is “process oriented, not product driven” and we have all kinds of media for children to explore including paint, clay, finger crayons, and chalk.

  • Outdoors: Weather permitting, we spend a time outdoors in our playground.

  • Lunch: We have a group lunch at 12 PM.  Toddlers retrieve their own lunch pails, open up their lunch boxes and clean up after themselves afterwards.

  • Half-day children go home at 12:30 PM

  • Nap: Children start napping between 12:30 - 12:45 PM

  • Afternoon: Toddlers eat a snack, continue exploring the classroom until their parents pick them up. The school day ends at 3:30 pm

  • Toileting: Using the toilet is part of the routine throughout the day. To facilitate toilet learning, all children wear pull-ups or underwear, no diapers. We help with toilet training and partner with parents on best practices for the youngest students.
