Founded in 2003 by Reverend Carol Record, whose dream is to serve children with
the most unique style of education. We are conveniently located off 121 and
Glade Road in Grapevine. Although we are located in the Unity Church we do not
teach religion.
From its inception, Hughes Road Montessori School has been committed to
respecting each child's individual learning process. Our teachers work one on
one with each child to understand how they best learn and encourage their
progress. We not only teach school lessons but life lessons.

Montessori emphasizes learning through all five senses. We reinforce this
concept through manipulative materials. Each child learns at their own pace
with the Montessori environment offering them the opportunity to grow to their
full potential and excel in their areas of interest, regardless of age. If you
are looking for a system in which you can compare your child to other children,
then Montessori is not for you. Though the Montessori Method does not compare
a child's ability with others, their development is closely monitored in order
to take them to the next level.

We currently have a "Beginners Program" as well as a "Primary Program". Our
Beginners class ranges from 18 month to 3 years of age. Our Primary class is
from 3 years to 6 years of age. Our teachers are Association Montessori
Internationale (AMI) or American Montessori Society (AMS) trained as well
as CPR/First Aid. We offer Spanish once a week as well.

Beginners
The children of the Beginner's Class spend their morning with fine and gross
motor activities, language enhancement and practical life skills. Manipulative
materials reinforce concepts the child hears and sees. The environment provides
them with lots of practice at making small independent decisions which will help
them make the right choices as they mature. They work as individuals and in
groups which gives them the social development they need. To help the child be
successful at toilet training, the teacher will partner with the parent to
provide a consistent method that will carry over from home to school.
Primary
The primary program builds a foundation for children to develop social
responsibility and to embrace the love of learning. Montessori-educated
children possess the ability to be independent, self-directed and joyful in
academic pursuits. This is partially obtained by the 3 year span in the
Primary class. Younger children look up to older students and enhance their
learning by observing and the older students become leaders and share their
knowledge with the younger ones. Primary students have lessons in Practical
Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural. In the Cultural area we
discuss aspects of a continent each month. We travel through the continent
discussing land and water forms, animals, the people and their culture, flags,
money and resources.
